I'M The Manager For The U.S from Kin Gang's blog

Personal speculation: Meseta pso2 has been ported into the NGS motor to keep players occupied between NGS content releases. No new content will probably be published to it outside of cosmetics, of which will be obtained/ported from NGS events/scratches to have people to play that. It'll be removed after a couple of years after all the players have migrated over and the only individuals in the PSO2 cubes are diehards holdouts/nostalgia. Probably. It is a new game so odds are similar to some other Online RPG the first release will not have much in regards to an endgame for the players that hit maximum level on day 1. It will be wonderful to simply switch blocks anytime I wanna hit up an old UQ though. There is never a reason to not visit magatsu.

Excellent FAQ, answers a whole lot of my first doubts.

Gosh, this looks so complex. On the one hand, kudos for maintaining the original game intact so there won't be a riot over changes people don't like. However on the other hand, since they're remaking base PSO2 visuals anyhow, I wish they'd just go 100% and synchronize character models entirely. Giving old players some free style items and unlocks would be enough to bribe everyone to accept the new system.

Synchronizing 100% character models doesn't seem easy. The problem is that the old outfits and coating wear are modeled to fit the old pso2 body. In order to synchronize it, they'd have to recreate from scratch (haha pun) 8 years of cosmetics. That is not likely to happen. I mean that I would be ready to shed a certain percentage of those makeup to help keep things intact across versions. As long as there's a continuous feed of cool new things to replace it, I don't mind. I always rotate out my old looks anyhow. Provided that the character versions translate 1:1 it will still feel like mine.

I would envision a massive complication to that entails a great deal of the cosmetics from the Japanese side of things which were exclusive to collaborations, promotional events, and events that no longer exist. The instance I can think of is the Dragon Hunter Frontier Z collaboration where I could envision the clothes and weapons could unquestionably be provided a visual update together with Cheap Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta everything else but I do not exactly understand how the licensing or the way the legal side of the cooperation works where I'd wish it had been as easy as Sega going through and updating the assets but I don't know about how much of Capcom is involved in that procedure.
