On 19th July 1987, Jon Jones was born as a second kid to his parents, Arthur Jones Jr. & Camille Jones, in Rochester, New York. His mother passed away at the age of 55; due to diabetes in 2017. His father was a pastor. Despite his father’s will, Jon became a fighter. His father wanted him to follow his path. Jon has an elder brother, Arthur Jones, and a younger brother Chandler Jones. Both his brothers are professional football players. He also had a sister, Carmen Jones, but unfortunately, she passed away due to a brain tumor.

Jon Jones is unmarried. He has three kids, Carmen Nicole Jones, Olivia Haven Jones, and Leah Jones, from his ex-girlfriend/ex-fiancée. They were in the same school, Endicott High School, New York. In 2013, they got engaged but did not marry. In 2021, Jon Jones got in a domestic violence case where he was accused of assaulting his fiancée, Jessie Moses. Following the incident, Jessie Moses left him. But recently, they were found kissing each other at UFC 285 in his recent fight against Ciryl Gane for the UFC Heavyweight Title bout.

Early signs of his excellence and fighting skills could be seen during high school. He was exceptional at wrestling. Also, owing to his slim body frame, he got his nickname, Boner.

Starting his career in UFC against Andre Gusmão on August 9, 2008, he became undefeated with a record of 9-0; until he was knocked out by his first-ever defeat, on December 5, 2009, against Matt Hamil (12-8-0) due to disqualification. On March 19, 2011, Jones achieved the most significant milestone: becoming the youngest-ever UFC champion at 23, defeating Mauricio Rua (27-14-1) in the 3rd round by TKO.

Despite his outstanding achievements in UFC, he had been surrounded by controversies in result creating challenges inside the octane: On April 28, 2015, his championship status was taken away due to his hit-and-run case (where he allegedly drove into a pregnant woman and fled the scene), before he could defend his title against Anthony Johnson (22-6-0) at UFC 187, May 2015.

In 2016, Jones was suspended for a year by USADA when his rematch with Daniel Cormier (22-3-0 (1 NC)) was supposed to take place at UFC 200 due to a potential doping violation. Also, two days later, his interim title was stripped. Luckily when he got into the rematch with Daniel Cormier a year later and eventually won the bout, but he had to hand over his UFC Light Heavyweight Title to Daniel Cormier because USADA flagged Jones for doping.

However, this didn’t stop there; in 2018, he made a comeback with a victory for UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Alexander Gustafsson. But in 2020, he disagreed with Dana White. Because of this disagreement, Jones gave up the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship title. Jon wanted to climb the UFC ladder and fight in the heavyweight division. But it was three years later only, on March 4, 2023, at UFC 285, he could prove to the world that he could dominate not just Light Heavyweight but also Heavyweight by winning against Ciryl Gane (11-2-0) with a submission method in the first round in 2:04 minutes.
