Synchronizing 100% character models does not sound simple. The dilemma is that Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta the older outfits and layer use are modeled to match the older pso2 body. In order to synchronize it, they would have to recreate from scratch (haha pun) 8 years of makeup. That is unlikely to occur. I mean that I would be ready to drop a certain percentage of those cosmetics to keep things intact around variations. Provided that there's a steady feed of cool new stuff to replace it, I don't mind. I constantly rotate out my older appearances anyway. Provided that the character versions translate 1:1 it will still feel like mine.

The instance I can think of is that the Monster Hunter Frontier Z cooperation where I can envision the clothes and weapons could unquestionably be given a visual update alongside everything else but that I do not exactly understand how the licensing or the way the legal side of the collaboration works where I would wish it had been as easy as Sega going through and updating the assets but I don't understand about how much Capcom is involved in this procedure.

The same applies to collaborations like the Final Fantasy XIV collaboration with Odin (which still exists as far as I know) where I don't understand how much Square Enix is involved that for Sega to have the ability to update assets there. If it was purely just Phantasy Star-related items (such as character outfits, cameos from other games, or alternative Sega-related possessions ) I could envision this likely would have been achieved, or at least would be carried out. But in the worldwide variant we already don't have the existence of Cougar NX therefore that I don't exactly know if there are other complications seeing Sega's properties that may also contribute to not updating everything they can within reason.

I can envision that probably out there we'll still see someone wearing those old collaboration things even when they aren't rigged up to the very same criteria as new makeup in a similar way and that there definitely would have been outrage if it had been made obsolete or unusable. Collabs that have experienced their makeup removed nevertheless have their assets exist on the game so those will probably still be available for jp players.

Only improvements we'll probably see is the new engine improving shadows, shadows, colors, particle effects and casting them against the drapes. You may have a look how just implementing better shadows and colors can enhance old equipment by checking ReShade screenshots.
